D23: Frozen content breakdown | Breakdown/ Analysis
What a day it was yesterday! So much content we were flooded with and especially for us with the Frozen 3 and 4 update! I'm sure you all know the latest deets but I would like it to break it all down and guess what it could all mean. So be prepared to read a lot! ❄️
[long post alert]
Frozen III logo
A couple of hours before the Frozen panel had begun, we were given a first look of the logo for Frozen 3:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/745b75b565f5ab7ee011d5f90ad24422/57d2db9e3f8c0180-e3/s540x810/8e1e71dc5ceed1e2d12e473a6471112d531dd0a6.jpg)
It features the four elements symbols and two snowflakes too for Elsa and Anna as the fifth spirit. The III had a purple - pink gradient to it and the background had a spring scenery south blossom/ sakura trees and mountains far behind. Some of us predicted before that Frozen 3 would be set in Spring given Frozen being in winter/ summer and Frozen 3 in Autumn.
However, some people didn't believe this logo was real. But after the panel, Josh Gad put it on his stories and as a post on Instagram, the announcements and reveals made at the panel.
This must mean that it's real. But a more accurate, rendered logo was also revealed at the Panel and that Gad had also shared in his post.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8add353f82c3d480aa7dae71d8ac8e09/57d2db9e3f8c0180-96/s540x810/0408b4295d2ab9418460caf5457b5d1af281087e.jpg)
So my conclusion is that the first one is a working title, a concept of what it would be like when it's promoted. The second one is a mix of the first Frozen logo and the second movie's logo combined being more 3D but still with a frozen effect. This logo is the official used rendered one whilst the first one is just a concept based on the implied spring theme of the movie. Both are real.
Frozen questions left unanswered
When the Panel began we were given a flood of questions on the board that were the questions the fans had after Frozen 2, aka the questions that were left unanswered. Here they are:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bbdfc70d3dcef12948cea6500cc6d1b2/57d2db9e3f8c0180-61/s540x810/ea477d2c442e492bc90bbe2bbcc35370a2cab710.jpg)
Who gave Elsa her powers?
Why doesn't Anna have powers?
Was there a fifth spirit before?
What kind of Queen will Anna be?
Will Kristoff be a King?
Do they [Anna & Kristoff] want kids?
Where are Kristoff's parents?
How did Kristoff meet Sven?
How can Sven be so old and still so virile?
Why is Olaf alive?
What about Marshmallow and the snowgies?
Is it “Hoo Hoo” or “You Hoo”?
What are Elsa's powers still growing?
Why are their castle ruins throughout Ahotohallan?
Where do the nature spirits come from?
Do we still need to beware of the Frozen Heart?
Who is the Frozen Heart?
What happened to Hans?
These questions will most likely be answered in Frozen 3 and 4, as they are confirmed to be a two part film. These are actually really good and interesting questions we have that we do need to have answered. I actually want to try and analyse (and answer them for fun!) them because some people might feel some have already answered so why the need to answer them again?
Who gave Elsa her powers?
We already know that Ahotohallan is where her powers come from. That's the source along with the other four spirits. But they probably felt like they didn't make it clear enough. Some people before Frozen 2 had theorized that there was a Snow Queen who gave Iduna something that caused Elsa to have powers. Maybe there's more to Ahotohallan than we know.
Why doesn't Anna have powers?
This isn't addressed in the movie other than the fact that Elsa and Anna are both the fifth spirit and the bridge which has two sides. But why doesn't Anna, I believe that's because the fifth spirit's role is to create balance between the powerful and the powerless (in a literal magical form). The fifth spirit was never just one being I don't think. It was always two to have one with powers and one without and have the two form a deep unbreakable bond so that humans and magical entities would look at them and see that though different, they can get along and have peace amongst each other, and live in harmony. If both were magical it would defeat the objective of creating peace between the two different types of beings
Was there a fifth spirit before?
I think yes because in the Myth VR on Disney plus, it was revealed that there was a fifth spirit before Elsa and Anna but after it created harmony with the other spirits and humans, it disappeared creating disharmony in the forest and caused the spirits to rage. Then the other four spirits managed to calm down until they were raged again by King Runeard's war between Arendelle and Northuldra. Even if this isn't canon I still believe there was one. I think it's important to know because it could be important with the journey Elsa and Anna next go on.
What kind of Queen will Anna be?
Her own kind of Queen. She will continue to bring peace and joy to Arendelle while also supporting the Northuldra tribe as her statues unveiling had suggested. She won't try to be Elsa. She's not Elsa. She's Anna. She may be the fifth spirit But whether or not she realises that she'll help maintain peace between magic and humans will Elsa's support too.
Will Kristoff be a King?
If Anna does abdicate from the throne then yes. To be exact he would be a king Consort. At the end of Frozen 2 we saw Anna greet the public as Queen and unveil the statue of her parents and kids. That wasn't the coronation which is confirmed and this confirms it too as it asks will he be king? and not is he king? I loved Elsa as Queen but she probably felt that she couldn't take care of Arendelle as she had to restore and look after Northuldra/ the enchanted forest and felt Anna deserved it after she had scared her and Arendelle twice without a doubt.
Do they [Anna & Kristoff] want kids?
That's a question that none of us thought of? Do they want kids? I think they do but will find it hard to do if there's threats and danger around. Anna definitely would be a lovely mother and Kristoff and lovable dad. But I don't think we'll see them have kids so soon, at least not in the beginning of the movie, like we won't immediately be introduced to them I don't think.
Where are Kristoff's parents?
A question we've been asking since the first movie. All we know is that he grew up as an ice harvester. He seems to have grown up independently with Sven. I can't even guess the answer because I'll probably be wrong anyway.
How did Kristoff meet Sven?
Another question regarding Kristoff's backstory we've been longing to see. It's nice to see they're including Kristoff's backstory now. The first two movies were about the sisters backstory and development arcs (and 3 and 4 continue that) but now we can finally learn about Kristoff!
How can Sven be so old and still so virile?
No clue! I never noticed that actually. I never thought of why. I don't know much about reindeer so I didn't know that Sven was so old yet so virile. Perhaps when he was young he was injured and the trolls may have healed him giving him a longer youthful life. I'm certain the trolls have a role in this if it's magic related.
Why is Olaf alive?
Why not how!! Another really interesting question that I can answer. We all know how he is alive because we saw Elsa bring him back to life but why was he brought back? He's still an important part of the sister bond and individually he has much more in him than we have seen. Plus he's Olaf and we love Olaf!
What about Marshmallow and the snowgies?
I believe they all too, along with the ice castle and all other permanent creations of Elsa, got restored either automatically after Elsa's return or by hand when Elsa got the chance. They too are as iconic as Olaf is. I hope they return in Frozen 3. They're so lovable and cute - it would be a fun addition to the movie.
Is it “Hoo Hoo” or “You Hoo”?
I always thought it was... “Yoo Hoo” because that's what people say. Hoo Hoo is an owl's line lol and one says that.
What are Elsa's powers still growing?
Just as we grow individually sometimes in height, in character, in what we feel, powers are no different. They grow as we grow inside. And Jen Lee has previously said that her powers will reach a new height in Frozen 3.
Why are their castle ruins throughout Ahotohallan?
I think they are referring to Ahotohallan as a castle and inside and out it looks ruined. During Show Yourself Elsa has to lift things up and add things to get across to the place where the memories are held. I theorize that the previous fifth spirit may have done something to Ahotohallan or to its power and caused chaos that caused Ahotohallan to have ruins in it. Ahotohallan probably was the previous fifth spirit's castle and when it went rouge Ahotohallan may have been left abandoned and ruined.
Where do the nature spirits come from?
Ahotohallan is where their powers are from. But perhaps it's more complicated than that and it needs to be addressed for lore reasons. There's more to Ahotohallan than we know.
Do we still need to beware of the Frozen Heart?
Oooooh!! My favourite question along with the next two. Do we? We must be if it's even a question at this point?
Who is the Frozen Heart?
Who? Frozen Heart is a person?! It was literally Anna in Frozen but metaphorically it was Elsa. Maybe someone else will be the Frozen Heart. Hans? Kristoff? A new character/ being?
What happened to Hans?
A question we've needed answering since Frozen and one that Hans fans have been trying to answer. His backstory based on official and unofficial media is that he has 12 brothers but they all or at least most of them treat him poorly along with his dad because he's the last child and last in line to the throne. That means, they think Hans as unworthy and unless of anything. So why did the Queen and King have another child? Probably as an accident child or just because. I'm sure the Queen is loving. He was sent back at the end of Frozen to his home, the Southern Isles so they can deal with him themselves and they did. As punishment they made him do chores like sweep up horse poop as seen towards the end of Frozen Fever before Elsa's giant snowball accidentally yet subconsciously hit him causing his major injuries. The southern Isles didn't immediately know where the snowball came from. But what happened to him after that? In a poster in the new Frozen Park in Hong Kong, it is revealed that Elsa and Anna invited the Southern Isles among other kingdoms to celebrate a year since Anna sacrificed herself to the Elsa and the Kingdom.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dc89b630e6dff72621c4e28a90ba3855/57d2db9e3f8c0180-18/s540x810/30878d3ecc35fd258e99710b8ced60f397bfcafe.jpg)
Hans couldn't come because he was injured. But his return is almost certain in Frozen 3 with his rise in unofficial/ canon media. Will he return as a villain or a redeemed hero is to be determined. I don't think he should return as a villain. If he did he would have taken his revenge out during Frozen 2, as he would have been recovered by then. Seeing the concept art of Frozen 3, which I'm about to go onto, it looks like we'll see mythical beings and a world bigger than Ahotohallan. Hans wouldn't fit as a villain in the expanded world of magic because he doesn't seem to be interested in magic in that greed sense. I think he'll be redeemed and help them in their new quest. Perhaps he does have tied with magic in his ancestry as we know nothing about his family.
All these questions are ones that the team feel like they need to answer in the next two movies and I think that's good. Along with showing something new, we get answers from questions we've long waited for too. And I think it's a good strategy for them to tell us the questions we've been asking so that they can answer it in the movies. They're letting us know that they can hear us and want to fulfil our wishes while telling a new story. It's good communication in my opinion.
Frozen 3 concept art and new release date
Jennifer Lee also revealed the concept art of Frozen 3. I'm sure there must've been dozens of art but this one may have been the direction they're headed in.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2766e70b1ce4f0b6cb584da177487f01/57d2db9e3f8c0180-de/s540x810/516a49a53e7ee853595e2598f3beea508776ba14.jpg)
We have a beautiful calm colour palette that reminds me of dawn/ dusk of spring. Trees are on either side, golden light beams from behind a mystical palace in the left centre. Flowers and leaves present hinting at a Spring setting. Anna's on a horse with Olaf and Elsa on the Nokk on the river both heading to the palace-like place. The scene is set at night as the aurora borealis/ northern lights can be seen arising from the castle. Perhaps this castle has some connection to the northern lights. In the Lego Northern lights series, the trolls crystals are the ones to cause the northern lights or have a connection to them. I don't think the Lego series is canon but I do wonder if the trolls will have a role in this too.
Elsa and Anna are in their Frozen 2 attires, Anna in her travel one and Elsa in her fifth spirit one but with boots (for practical reasons). That doesn't mean that's their final look. Frozen 2's early concept art had Elsa and Anna in their Frozen looks. Olaf looks worried as he points to something off scene.
Just below the direction in which he points, in the river, lies a shadowy creature. It could be that that's the shadow of the creature Olaf points to. The creature appears to have horns and hold a staff/ spear with a sharp end.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2824ad4f7cd27bc6eafd028816df84e3/57d2db9e3f8c0180-9e/s400x600/2068336ebf9fcb717fa631fd759a4cca58893fef.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a44d87024bca4c7015a33a79e96bcff9/57d2db9e3f8c0180-8b/s500x750/ad6304998dd2b918f0ce62da5c750d89db30cf6c.jpg)
Just below the palace-like place is a land. I was going to say Ahtohallan but the silhouettes are different.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e4595d7b202109a34d05445777fe3348/57d2db9e3f8c0180-6a/s540x810/6cb1e3c40e3fd297392fe72173320dfb32ab8473.jpg)
So it seems like this place is unknown. If they went North in Frozen 2, perhaps Thai time they're going south, which is why Hans could appear. But that's just a guess.
During the panel it is also revealed that the release date is November 2027 having it moved back by a year from its original 2026 release date. 2027 seems quite far away just when we felt we were getting closer to Frozen 3 but we'll just have to be patient and hope we get some other Frozen content released meanwhile.
Frozen: Winter Festival short form series?
That's everything that was revealed regarding Frozen 3, but no word on the series that was revealed by dolls and their descriptions. I believe since the movie got delayed by a year, probably to spend more time developing the two part movies (which is a good thing so we avoid the mistakes caused by rush in production for Frozen 2), the short form series will be delayed by a year. That would mean the announcement could be closer to time in next year's D23. That or they wanted to announce the series later. The dolls are to be released in September and the series is said to be released this fall. That is of course unless they have delayed it by a year but we'll have to wait and see if anything gets said before September otherwise consider it delayed by a year (😭).
And that's all the information given to us for now. Frozen 3 looks so good and promising - the vibe of spring with a deeper fantasy element is making me extremely excited! New places, new seasons, new characters, expanded lore, possible character returns, new looks and more!! Can't wait!! And yeah though my patience is sad that Frozen 3 had been delayed by a year, I'm glad because it means they can spend more time on the movie, to develop it properly and not repeat the same mistake they made with Frozen 2 with no good planning and a rushed development to the run up of the movie.
And the Frozen: Winter Festival I'm also excited for. I think Frozen needs a canon series in its franchise.
The future looks big and bright for the franchise! ❄️

Fixing Frozen 3's questions at 2024's D23 Expo

On August 9–11, 2024 at D23, Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee revealed questions that may or may not be answered in Frozen 3:
Who gave Elsa her powers?
Why doesn't Anna have powers?
Was there a 5th Spirit before?
What kind of Queen will Anna be?
Will Kristoff be a King?
Do they want kids?
Where are Kristoff's parents?
How did Kristoff meet Sven?
How can Sven be so old and still so virile?
Why is Olaf alive?
What about Marshmallow and the snowgies?
Is it "Hoo Hoo" or it is "Yoo Hoo?"
Why are Elsa's powers still growing?
Why are there castle ruins throughout Athohallen?
Where do the nature spirits come from?
Do we need to beware the frozen heart?
Who is the Frozen Heart?
What happened to Hans?
One word: disappointing. These questions are like tossing dung at a wall and hoping one of them will stick. They are either incredibly redundant (e.g. Olaf alive, Elsa's powers growing), unnecessary (e.g. Kristoff meeting Sven, the origin of Elsa's powers, castle ruins, the spirits origin) or obvious throwaway questions (e.g. Yoo Hoo, Sven's virility).
And why are the only questions about Elsa all about her powers? Does Lee genuinely believe people only like Elsa because she has ice powers? Seriously look at the questions about Anna and Kristoff--these questions ask about their lifestyles. Do they want kids? What kind of rulers will they be? Meanwhile Elsa gets two questions and they're all about her POWERS.
And why are there no questions concerning the relationship between Anna and Elsa? I thought their sisterly bond was what Frozen was all about. Not Elsa's magic. Not convoluted mythology. Not Kristoff and Anna being rulers and starting a nuclear family. These questions are seriously missing a HUGE part of why Frozen became a hit.
So I've decided to formulate a different set of questions, or rather a more through set of questions, which build upon Lee's questions, and hopefully better address the characters and themes of Frozen and Frozen 2:
Characters
The personalities, the journeys they undergo, the choices they make, the consequences they endure, and the relationship they have with each other are vital to creating memorable characters that resonate with audiences. Frozen set the groundwork, Frozen 2 destroyed it, now its up to Frozen 3 to build it back.
Elsa

Is Elsa happy in Athohallen?
Does she miss being queen?
Does she miss living in Arendale with Anna?
What is her role as Fifth Spirit?
What does Elsa do in Athohallen?
Does she want a partner?
Does she want kids?
Does Elsa still have social anxiety or any other mental health issues she struggles with? How does this effect her new lifestyle?
What does Elsa think of Kristoff and his relationship with Anna?
Does Elsa think Kristoff will make a good king?
Has Elsa forgiven Hans?
Is Elsa the frozen heart?
Anna

Is Anna happy being queen?
Does she miss being princess?
Does she miss living with Elsa?
What does she think of Elsa abdicating the throne to live in Athohallen?
Is Anna ever worried about Elsa living in a glacier that tried to kill her?
What is her role as queen?
Does Anna feel she can be as good as a queen as Elsa?
Does she think Kristoff will make a good husband?
What does she think of Kristoff being king?
Does she want kids?
Has Anna forgiven Hans?
What does Anna think of her parents, specifically in how they treated Elsa and her as children?
What does she think of the trolls as her in-laws?
Kristoff
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0dcdbb3073e02f40cd2983349b548005/bd76ec039dfd85af-38/s540x810/9c7bd88b9748ceb5f4c8daf7c49dba9c447b671f.webp)
What does Kristoff think of being king?
How is Kristoff adjusting to his radically different lifestyle?
Does Kristoff miss being a ice harvester?
What do the people think of a commoner like Kristoff marrying the queen?
Does Kristoff still love ice?
What about Kristoff's misanthropy? Did that magically go away when he dated Anna?
Does Kristoff think he will make a good husband?
What does he think of Elsa's abdication?
What happened to his parents and why is he an orphan?
Does he want kids?
Hans
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dd2598ac7bda399562c4a73f9d489693/bd76ec039dfd85af-4c/s540x810/170c587ef325cbbc800cbaf9363e36b73275e463.webp)
Will Hans return to the franchise?
Will Hans be redeemed?
Does he want revenge?
Does he still want the throne?
Will he ever find a place of his own?
What does Hans think of Anna as queen?
What does Hans think of Elsa's abdication?
What about his parents and twelve older brothers?
Did he have a abusive or neglectful childhood?
Is Hans still shoveling horse manure as his punishment?
Is Hans the frozen heart?
Olaf
How does Olaf feel about being the only sentient snowman of his kind?
Does Olaf wish he was human?
How do other people treat him?
Does Olaf see Elsa as his mother and Anna as his aunt?
Will Olaf reach adulthood?
Can Olaf physically grow?
Does he miss living with Elsa?
How does he feel knowing that if Elsa dies he will die as well?
Will Olaf ever stop being a insufferable edgelord? (lol)
Themes
Old and new themes to explore....
Sisterhood. How does living separately effect Anna and Elsa's relationship? How does Elsa cope without Anna's constant presence and unwavering support? How does Anna cope without Elsa's compassion and wisdom? Will living separately cause the divide between them to deepen?
Fear and isolation. Is Elsa afraid of being alone? Is Elsa afraid of her powers spiraling out of control again? Is Anna afraid of failing to live up to expectations as queen? Does she feel lonely without Elsa always by her side? Is being queen a lonely endeavor? Is Elsa afraid of Athohallen (it literally froze and held her hostage when she got too curious, lol)?
The duty/role of a ruler. Now that Anna is queen, how does that effect the people? What do they think of Elsa's abdication? What do they think of Anna being queen? What do they think of Kristoff being their king? What are the qualities of a good ruler? What sort of constitutional duties are there to perform?
Self-discovery and transformation. How will Elsa and Anna discover new things about themselves or about each other? Will the journey they undergo change them for the better or the worst? Will Elsa's role as fifth spirit drive her further from her humanity? Will Anna's role as queen isolate her from her sister and her people or drive her closer to both?
Redemption and forgiveness. In Frozen, Elsa redeemed herself when she thawed Arendale. The people, who she had nearly accidently killed, forgave her and happily ice skated with her at the end. If Hans is redeemed in Frozen 3 then the theme can continue anew. Redemption is all about transformation. Can someone flawed change for the better? Or are some people's crimes so evil that they are irredeemable? Can we forgive those who wronged us even if they aren't sorry?
Norse mythology. Fate, rebirth, knowledge, sacrifice are a few of the central themes of Norse mythology. The Æsir (e.g. Odin, Frigg, Thor, Loki, Balder, Hod, Heimdall and Tyr) and Vanir (e.g. Njord, Freyr, and Freyja), the Nine Realms, Yggsdrasil. How can they be weaved convincingly into Frozen 3, when 1) it takes place in 18th century Norway and 2) the first film was largely based on a fairytale and classic disney references? Will they ever acknowledge how Christianity replaced paganism? (probably not since this is Disney).
Conclusion
What do you think? Feel free to add some questions. Please be respectful.

CS AU: Sleeps Ten, My Ass (1/2)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6d6f0e992fabd8cbbb2bbf7797d835aa/7ce9c75aba874e49-b3/s540x810/1fa248219852f1002be0d574fe2cc67b3cb1e1f9.jpg)
Summary: It's become tradition for Emma Swan to spend the holidays with her brother, their cousins, and their families. This Christmas was no different. The group booked a four night stay at a cozy mountain cabin to celebrate. The listing said it sleeps ten, but upon arrival they discover a small issue. The listing was wrong and now Emma and Killian Jones, the only two single people within their group, have to spend the next four nights sharing a bed. Fortunately... they've shared a bed before.
A/N: @eastwesthomeisbest it is I, your CS Secret Santa! Thank you for being so patient and understanding! I'm sorry I couldn't post this sooner, but between the normal busyness of the holidays and my entire family coming down with Covid, finding time to write was a struggle. I hope you find this worth the wait. It was lovely hearing about your traditions and I hope you had a fantastic holiday!
Thanks to @kmomof4 for looking this over for me and to the @cssecretsanta2020 for once again hosting a fantastic event. Side note, this fic also completes my Only One Bed: Holiday Edition CS Winter Bingo square!
Rated eventual E / Also available on ao3 / add to tag list / Curious? Come Ask Me!
Part One
She was late. Super late. Incredibly late. Late enough that she was certain her brother had already called the cops to report her missing. Late enough that it was already pitch black on the back mountain road, forcing her to drive at a creeping speed so she didn’t careen off the side of a cliff, which was making her even more late.
In her defense, they should all have expected that she’d be late. She was always late. Every dinner, every holiday get together, every vacation, every celebration, Emma Swan was always notoriously late.
Not because she didn’t want to spend time with her family. Far from. She just… wasn’t always in control over her own schedule. Bail bonds and bounty hunting wasn’t exactly a 9 to 5 gig, and when a mark finally crawled out of whatever hole in which he (it was more often than not a he) had hid himself away through some dumbass attempt to avoid the consequences of his own dumbass actions, well… many times it meant a change in her plans.
Was it annoying? Yes.
Did she make sure to take out that frustration on the perp? Also, yes.
Was it even worse for the offender when he made her late for the Christmas get-together her cousin Elsa had planned for them all - a four night stay at a picturesque mountain cabin big enough to sleep three married couples and two singles with amenities that would keep them cozy and content over the holiday? Oh, yes.
Big. Fat. Yes.
To go with the big fat payout she needed in order to pay her portion of said holiday getaway.
Rounding another winding corner, the soft glow of the illuminated cabin stirred a strange mix of sensations in her chest; a swirl of relief at nearly being there and panic over what was awaiting her inside. Parking her bug next to the vehicles that signalled she was indeed the last to arrive, Emma fortified herself for a moment before exiting the vehicle, grabbing her bag, and marching up to the cabin as though she were about to face a firing squad.
David, her brother, and Liam, Elsa’s husband, would likely scold her with their hands firmly planted on their hips or their arms crossed tightly over their chests. The rebukes would be drowned out by David’s wife, Mary Margaret, and Elsa’ sister, Anna, who would both rush at Emma and force her into claustrophobic hugs while they expressed their worry and relief, offering Emma a blanket, a place by the fire, a plate of food, a cup of tea, all without taking a breath between them as Anna’s husband, Kristoff, tried to tell the women to let Emma breathe and get settled.
The only one who would not be making a fuss would likely already have a drink ready for her, a knowing smirk teasing his lips as he tried to stifle an eye roll at the group’s overreaction.
Killian Jones. Liam’s brother and the only other single member of their group.
Hand on the doorknob, Emma took a deep breath and opened the door to the expected chaos. And chaos there was, but… none of it seemed to be about her and her tardiness.
Elsa and David were in the kitchen. One of their phones, clearly on speaker, was held between them as they argued with whoever was on the other end of the line. Liam and Kristoff were seated at the dining table with a laptop open, the elder Jones frantically typing and clicking as Kristoff scrolled on his phone with a furrowed brow.
“There’s nothing up here that could be used as an extra one,” Anna called out from the top of the stairs. “Mary Margaret and I have looked through all the closets and checked all the furniture.”
None of them had noticed her presence yet, and she was about to say something when heavy boot falls sounded from the porch behind her.
“Ah, Swan. You arrived in one piece then?” Killian said cheekily with an arm full of firewood.
“Uh, yeah,” she replied, setting her bag down so she could help with the load he was carrying. “Sorry I’m late.”
“No worries,” he assured her, making his way to the fireplace and stacking their logs beside the hearth. “You missed the initial excitement, but you’ve made it in time to witness the spiral everyone has since descended into.” Emma glanced around the cabin at the said spiral, wondering what had set everyone off as Killian added a couple of logs to the fire, then grabbed the poker so he could stoke it. “I told them I’d make do on the couch, or even a pallet on the floor, but--”
“Sleeps ten, my ass!” Elsa shouted as she angrily hung up the call. “They swapped out the couch and forgot to update the listing!”
“What?” Emma said, but no one other than Killian seemed to have heard her, or even realized she was there.
“That’s ridiculous!” Liam bellowed. “What do they plan to do about it?”
“Can they bring an air mattress or cot?” Kristoff asked, still scrolling through his phone. “Because none of the local stores seem to have one, and even if they did, they’d be closed by the time we got back to town.”
Killian stepped away from the fire he’d coaxed back to life and into the metaphorical one building at the kitchen island where the rest of their group - save for Emma - had gathered.
“I already told you, the couch will be fine.”
“Don’t be silly, Killian,” Anna replied. “Have you seen that couch? It’s far too narrow and your feet are gonna dangle off the end.”
“Then the floor will suit me--”
“For the amount of money we spent renting this place, you are not sleeping on the floor,” Elsa declared. “I cannot believe this! How could they make a mistake like that?”
“What did the owner say?” Mary Margaret asked, setting out a platter of food she’d removed from the fridge and encouraging everyone to eat something… as though snacking would somehow fix the issue. An issue Emma still wasn’t sure was the cause of everyone’s upset.
“He won’t do anything,” Elsa snapped. “He said they had to replace the couch, which had been a sleeper, and apparently forgot to update the listing, but didn’t see the problem since we only have eight people, not ten, and there are four king size beds.”
“Didn’t you explain that there weren’t four couples, though?”
“Oh, she did,” David interjected. “But the man didn’t seem to care about anything other than getting back to his tropical Christmas vacation.”
“So what do we do?” Anna asked. “Where is Killian gonna sleep?”
“He and I can just share the bed.”
Seven heads collectively snapped in her direction, a mixture of shock and surprise being directed her way as her family, for the first time, realized she was there and then computed her words.
Words she would later blame on the fact that although no one seemed bothered by the fact she was late, she still felt the need to make up for it and therefore was compelled to offer a solution to the problem, even if said solution meant sharing a bed with a man she absolutely did not have feelings for and no one would convince her otherwise, not even her own treacherous heart, and thereby torturing herself for the next several days.
“Are you sure, love?” Killian asked, his eyes scrutinizing her, looking for any hint that she might be regretting the offer and wished to back out. “I wouldn’t want you to do anything you weren’t completely comfortable with.”
“Are you planning to make it uncomfortable for her?” David asked in his overly protective, brotherly tone. “Because I’m warning you--”
“Warning him?” Liam braced his hands against the top of the island and leaned over it, staring David down as he asked, “Are you insinuating my brother is some sort of cad who would take advantage of--”
“We all know Killian’s reputation.”
“Okay,” Emma interjected before things could escalate further. “I think you’re all forgetting that I have a reputation, too. Of being able to take care of myself. Besides, I trust Killian. We’re both adults. There’s no reason for either of us to sleep on a couch or the floor when there is a perfectly good bed, big enough for us to share. So…” She marched back over to where she’d dropped her bag and collected it as she continued on, “If you don’t mind. I’ve had a long day and all I want right now is a shower and some sleep.” Directing her gaze to Killian she asked, “Where’s your stuff?”
“It’s uh…” he began, scratching behind his ear as he furtively cast a glance towards David. “It’s on the landing.”
“Great,” she said, turning towards the stairs. “Grab it on your way up so you can settle in while I shower.”
“Emma,” Mary Margaret called out. “Are you sure you don’t want anything to eat or--”
“I’m fine,” Emma answered back halfway up the stairs. “I’ll see you all in the morning.” Looking over her shoulder, she saw Killian hesitate at the bottom step. “Are you coming?”
“Aye,” he answered, following after her two steps at a time and grabbing his duffle before slipping into the room behind her.
Tossing his bag onto the bed, he glanced around the room and inquired one last time, “You’re certain you’re okay with this, Swan?”
“Yes, Jones,” Emma replied in an exasperated tone she hoped masked the nerves currently coursing through her. After gathering up her toiletry items, she straightened and faced him, a thought suddenly occurring to her. “Unless… You are uncomfortable with it and would rather--”
“No, no,” he insisted, his shoulders relaxing and his usual cocky demeanor coming forward. “It’s not that,” he said in a cheeky and slightly taunting tone.
“What is it then?” Emma asked, trying hard to not be taken in by his charm as he swaggered towards her.
“Well, I seem to remember you saying something about it being a one time thing the last time we shared a bed,” he crooned, twisting a section of her hair around his finger. “Seems you’ll have to eat those words now.”
Emma wet her lips and tried to squash the delighted feeling surging through her at the way his eyes dropped to follow the motion. “Bad form bringing up our… what did you call it?” she asked in a mocking tone as she cocked her head to one side. “Our dalliance?” He winced at her terrible attempt to mimic his accent and they both chortled as she reminded him, “I thought we agreed to never speak of that night again.”
“You’re right, Swan. Bad form indeed,” he conceded in a soft timbre. “My apologies, love.”
He backed away and retreated to the other side of the room where he made himself busy unpacking his duffle. “Go ahead and shower, Swan,” he said. “I’ll hop in after you.”
“Thanks,” she threw out over her shoulder as she shut herself in the bathroom, suddenly very eager to have a bit of separation from him. From him and the memory of that night. The night they had shared a bed - and a whole lot more - with one another after copious amounts of alcohol and hours on a dance floor somewhere in the Caribbean during the cruise they’d all taken together earlier that year to celebrate Liam and Elsa’s wedding.
A memory that stubbornly refused to be cast aside, making for a very long shower - a fitful, highly inappropriate shower - especially considering the man she’d been fixated on was in the next room, waiting on her to finish so he could get naked and wet and…
Dear God, Emma. Get a grip!
Emerging from the bathroom, adorned in her pajamas with her wet hair wrapped in a towel, Emma hoped the red in her cheeks would be chalked up to the heat of the shower and not because her fantasies had gotten away from her.
“All yours,” she said, pulling her hair dryer out of her bag and plugging it into the wall at the makeshift vanity.
She combed through the wet strands as Killian hovered at the doorway to the bathroom. Pausing her actions, she stared up at him expectantly, trying not to remember what he looked like shirtless.
“About before,” he said, his voice deep with an edge of concern. “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable by bringing up that night, I just…” He left out a heavy breath and ran his hand through his hair. “I was just trying to bring a bit of levity to an otherwise tense situa--”
“Killian,” she said, waving him off. “It’s fine. Really. You didn’t upset me by bringing it up.” Shrugging, she tried to give off a sense of nonchalance about the whole thing. “It happened. We’ve both moved on from it. No big deal.”
“Right,” he said with a bit of a drawl. “Well… I’ll try not to take too long, so as to not keep you up.” Glancing towards the bed, he said, “I hope it’s okay that I took that side. I didn’t know if you had one you preferred.”
Emma turned to see which side he’d taken. Not that it mattered.
“Honestly,” she answered, “I don’t really have one. It’s not like I share my bed often enough with anyone to develop a preference.”
“Aye. Same,” he replied with that adorable lopsided smile of his.
Emma’s heart fluttered for several seconds after he disappeared into the bathroom. He didn’t often share his bed? Really? Like David had said earlier, Killian had a bit of a reputation as a ladies’ man. It was one of the reasons she’d pulled back after their night together; she’d hated being just another notch on his bedpost.
How many notches had he added since her, she wondered.
She had plenty of time to contemplate that question. It wasn’t until well after she’d dried her hair, set her alarm, and settled under the covers that Killian emerged from the bathroom. The last drowsy thought Emma had was whether he’d taken advantage of the memory of them together to help let off some steam whilst he was in the shower like she had. She didn’t get a chance to dwell on the thought, though. The tiring day had caught up to her and sleep took over the moment she felt the bed dip beside her.

“Morning, Emma! Sleep well?”
Anna’s voice was far too perky for the current early morning hour, causing Emma to grimace as she shuffled past the red headed woman on her way to the kitchen.
“Oh, sorry,” Anna whispered, tiptoeing behind her. “Coffee? I just brewed a fresh pot.”
“Please,” Emma grumbled, slumping down onto one of the barstools at the island. “A fresh pot? How early did you get up?”
“Mary Margaret and I got up with the guys,” she said, pouring Emma a cup, then placing it and a tray of fixings on the counter top in front of her. “We wanted to make sure they got a good meal and some coffee before they headed out.”
Emma nodded her understanding, adding enough sugar to her cup that it would have earned her a disgusted look from Killian had he been there and not out traipsing through the woods with an axe. It was an annual tradition at this point. For the past five years - ever since the Jones brothers had entered their lives through Liam and Elsa’s courtship - the guys went out on Christmas Eve morning and cut down a tree for them to decorate. While they were out finding the perfect specimen, Mary Margaret would lead - or in Emma’s case, berate - the girls in making the decorations. The guys would join in once they got back and set up the tree, and the day would be spent stringing popcorn or dried oranges or cranberries for garland as well as attempting to avoid tiny cuts from the origami-esque construction of paper or cardboard ornaments.
There were also snacks and cocktails, the occasional break from crafting to watch a Christmas movie or play a game. Of course, every year, Emma and Killian would insist they watch Die Hard, which Mary Margaret would dismiss as not being a Christmas movie and an argument would ensue - mostly because it gave both Emma and Killian a perverse sense of pleasure to rile up Mary Margaret. Not that they didn’t love the movie or wholeheartedly believe that it was, in fact, a Christmas movie.
“Oh, Emma! You’re up!” Mary Margaret set down a stack of boxes on the island, the contents of which held various crafting supplies no doubt. “Did you get some breakfast?”
Emma shook her head and waved off the woman’s attempt to feed her. “Not yet,” she said. “I’ll get something after I’m sufficiently caffeinated.”
“Well drink up,” Mary Margaret ordered as she began to retreat back into the room she and David were using. “We need to get going on these decorations.”
A moment later she returned with several sacks and with Anna’s help, began organizing the supplies. Emma took that as her cue to find another place to enjoy her coffee.
Glancing out the French doors that led to the back deck she caught sight of a platinum blonde braid. Emma grabbed a blanket from the back of the couch and wrapped it around her shoulders before joining Elsa in the peace and quiet of the mountain morning.
“Hey,” she said, pulling Elsa’s attention away from the view. “Mind if I join you?”
“Please do,” Elsa replied, making room on the bench. “Do you want me to turn on the heater?”
It shouldn’t have surprised Emma that her cousin hadn’t already started the propane heater. The cold had never seemed to bother her like it did Emma.
“No, I’ve got it.” Emma cranked up the heat then sat down, snuggling into the blanket she’d brought out with her.
“Sleep okay?” Elsa asked. “Any problems with the room?”
“No,” Emma answered, taking a sip of her coffee before adding, “The room’s great. Very comfortable.”
“Good,” Elsa said, turning her attention back towards the snowy mountain view. “And sharing with Killian? That, uh… Did that go okay?”
Emma rolled her eyes and hid her knowing smirk behind her mug. “It was fine,” she replied.
“I mean, I’m sure Killian was a gentleman, I just hate that the two of you have to endure this awkwardness when I did my best to--”
“Elsa,” Emma interrupted. “It isn’t your fault, and we will make do. It’s fine. Really.”
The icy blonde’s shoulders relaxed and a puff of exhaled air lingered at her lips for a moment before she said, “Good. I’m glad.” With a furtive glance in Emma’s direction she muttered, “Let’s just hope David thinks it's all fine.”
“I’m a big girl,” Emma reminded her cousin. “David will get over it.”
“I don’t know,” Elsa replied in a sing-song tone. “He was looking pretty hostile this morning when Killian sauntered down the stairs with a whistle on his lips. I’m pretty sure Liam made sure to be the one who took the axe when they left.”
The two women shared a chuckle, both of them knowing full well there was no danger of the men resorting to violence, even if they did bluster a bit.
“I’m sure Killian is reveling in the opportunity to needle David, but I trust Liam to make sure cooler heads prevail.”
“And his needling wouldn’t have any elements of truth in it, right?” Elsa inquired, not so subtly.
Emma sighed exasperatedly. “No,” she stated adamantly. “Nothing happened, and nothing is going to happen.”
She shifted uncomfortably under Elsa’s scrutiny, her piercing blue eyes cutting through her assertions as she hummed a dubious sound.
“If you say so.”
Emma was about to double down on her words, but was cut off by Anna’s sudden appearance.
“Everything is ready! Come make decorations with us!”
Emma and Elsa shared a resigned look then followed Anna back into the cabin, after shutting off the heater, of course. The ladies then spent the next hour or so making handmade decorations whilst also prepping food items for the upcoming meals.
When the guys returned, Emma stayed out of the way. She’d learned from years past to just let David, Liam, Mary Margaret, and Elsa duke it out on the best way to set up the tree. While the four of them conferenced in the living room, she joined Anna in the kitchen, who was busy making everyone a hot cocoa.
“Need a hand?”
“Yes, please!”
The two women filled and garnished mugs of hot cocoa while every so often peeking outside to watch Kristoff and Killian clean up the tree. Once it was suitable for indoors - and they’d gotten the final word of where to set it up - the men brought it inside and secured it in the stand. Everyone stood back to admire the magnificent find as Emma and Anna handed out the beverages.
“Jones,” Emma said, offering him a hot cup as she came to stand beside him.
“Thank you, love,” he replied, slightly out of breath. A half-smile pulled at his lips and crinkled at the corner of his eyes when he noticed she’d adorned his in the same manner as hers - with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It was how she’d always taken her cocoa and slowly but surely she was converting the rest of their group to do the same.
“It’s a great looking tree,” she commented, sipping her hot chocolate nonchalantly so he wouldn’t read too much into her compliment.
“Aye,” he said, taking another long look at the fruit of his and the other men’s labor. A fruit that was quickly filling the living room with a pungent pine scent that tickled Emma’s sinuses. “And what of your efforts?” he asked, turning his attention onto her. “Care to show me what you lasses have been working on and how I might assist?”
Emma rolled her eyes and led him to the dining table where he prompted her to give him a demonstration of the crafting. Soon, the others joined them and the day went on just as Emma knew it would: completing the decorations, stringing lights and garlands, decorating the tree, gorging themselves on a big meal, partaking in snacks, then some drinks, then some more drinks, and arguing over then watching several Christmas themed movies and shows. Unfortunately, no Die Hard.
“You know, Swan,” Killian whispered in her ear as everyone began to disperse from the living room to turn in for the night. “We have a TV with streaming services in our room…”
The feel of his breath against the shell of her ear, as well as the way he said ‘our room’ sent a thrill up her spine.
Fortunately, he didn’t seem to notice.
Was it fortunate?
“Your point?” she said, her voice a little too breathy, but maybe he’d think it was because they’d just climbed the steep steps to the second floor.
“My point,” he continued, following her into their - THE - room, “is once we’ve showered and readied ourselves, we can watch Die Hard in bed and celebrate the season properly.”
“Sounds like a plan, Jones,” she replied, even as her heart skipped a few beats at the reminder they’d both be taking turns getting naked and wet with only a flimsy door that did not lock between them.
Ever the gentleman, Killian let her go first. While he took his turn, she busied herself with getting ready for bed, queuing up the movie, and adding an extra blanket to the stack of covers. In no time, they were settled on their respective sides of the bed, enjoying watching John McClane run around Nakatomi Plaza barefoot whilst being a ‘fly in the ointment’ to Hans Gruber.
They both barely remained conscious, but somehow got to the credits before crashing. The constant recitation of dialogue probably helped.
At some point in the night, a rustling sound in the corner of the room stirred Emma. Instinctively, she reached over to feel for Killian, only to find his side of the bed empty.
“Killian?” she croaked out, his name heavy on her tongue from sleep. “What are you--”
“The heat went out,” he told her, making her aware of her own shivering and the frigid air of the room. “Elsa is having kittens over it,” he went on to explain. “Giving the owner a right earful as we speak.”
A low hum and soft glow began to fill the room. Killian stood and visibly shook himself before heading back to bed.
“What’s that?” Emma asked, shifting in bed and moving closer to the middle.
“Space heater,” Killian answered, still shivering from the cold. “The owner relented and gave us the code to the storage closet. There were a few of these in there.”
Emma hummed in response, her mind weighing whether to bring up the idea of--
“Swan?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you mind if we… that is,” he hedged, clearing his throat. “Until the heater manages to raise the temperature, would you be okay if we…”
“Sure,” she said, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically as she scooted closer to him.
“Thank you, love,” he murmured, his chest already plastered against her back and his face buried in the crook of her neck.
Emma moaned in relief, the heat of his body already warming her and staying the chills that had made her tense. In an effort to find a comfortable position for her legs - without entangling them with his - she rocked her hips back into his and felt…
“Bloody hell,” Killian grumbled in an embarrassed tone as he pulled away. “Apologies, Swan. I didn’t intend--”
“Killian,” she laughed, rolling over to face him. “It’s fine. It happens. You don’t have to be embarrassed.”
“I just don’t want you to think I have ulterior motives for suggesting--”
“I don’t,” she assured him. “I know guys can’t always control… that.”
“Well, I am usually much more in control of such things, I assure you.”
“I’m sure you are,” she said in an appeasing tone, earning her a side-eyed glare. “Seriously, though,” she continued, trying to coax him back to her. “Your morning wood doesn’t offend me, so will you please come back here.”
He relented after some not so gentle tugging, and a moment later they were once again entwined in the other’s arms.
“Mmmm,” Emma hummed, nestling a bit further into his chest. “How are you always so warm? I feel like I’m always cold.”
As Emma drifted off to sleep she was certain she heard him say, “I know, love. But I’ll always be here for you when you need to keep warm.”

De Rolo Kids Headcanons
Disclaimer: These headcanons have no set timeline in the CR universe. I just like to keep them safe in my back pocket.
Vesper De Rolo
The oldest child
Part of me thinks that she has some mild case of ‘Only Child Syndrome’. For a while, it was just her, Percy, and Vex. Then the twins came along. I don’t think there is a canonical confirmed age gap, but given that Vesper is about 30 in her last canon appearance; I ballpark the age gap between her and The Twins at about 9-10 years.
She’s the oldest child AND eldest daughter… so that’s a lot
Her white hair comes from Vex being pregnant with her while she was a Champion of The Dawnfather.
Paladin Class. Worships the Dawnfather and can often be found by the Sun Tree.
Vesper and Vax’ildan II bond over their respective faith practices.
Takes after both her parents in the best ways. But this can also backfire.
Spends most of her free time reading or painting. Her preferred reading material is non-fiction and history.
She’s just as unhinged as the rest of her siblings, but tends to keep it out of the public eye better than the others.
Loves painting. Like REALLY loves to paint. Her room looks like the inside of Rapunzel’s tower in Tangled.
Yeah, turns out those paintings were linked to oracle powers–
Anyway– that means she’s off on an adventure! She likes to take her siblings with her, when they’re old enough. Leona and Vax’ildan II are her favorites to travel with.
Despite the 9-10 year age gap, Vesper and Wolfe bond over being the ‘Eldest Daughter’ and ‘Eldest Son’ of the De Rolo family.
Gwendolyn and Vesper have a very close relationship, despite having the biggest age gap of all the kids. They share a love for history and fashion.
Has no real interest in politics, but given the order of her birth, she pays close attention in the case she might have to replace her Aunt Cassandra’s seat.
Heavy Weapons AND Heavy Armor girlie!! Will smash your skull in and look cute while doing so.
Wears her white hair in a messy side braid. Just like her mama <3
Wolfe Kristoff De Rolo
Contrary to most headcanons I’ve read about him; this boy is his father’s son. The Einstein of the new generation.
Demisexual
Definitely found old blueprints of Pepperbox and thought “I could do better”. And he did.
Fighter/Artificer Multi Class
Acts the most ‘Noble-like’ out of all his siblings.
Will throw money and his family name at all of his problems. (“My father will hear about this.”)
“I’m gonna k*ill myself.” – Wolfe, at any minor inconvenience
The most sought after bachelor in Whitestone. Weekly, Percy and Vex are approached by other nobility with the proposal of a political marriage of Wolfe and their own heir. If it’s not nobility; it’s townspeople trying to catch the inventor out of his Workshop to ‘get to know him’.
Wolfe has threatened to Crash Out if either of his parents even considered one of the offers.
Very well-versed in both engineering and politics.
Accidentally invented the Printing Press at the age of twelve… He was trying to make a stamp for his dad and it just got out of hand.
Took a really nasty fall when he was younger. Probably climbing on something he wasn’t supposed to. Resulted in a broken arm and busting his head open.
Has a scar on his forehead from the fall. His brown hair turned white where the scar meets his hairline.
Big into hair & skin care. Always has lotion on his person at all times.
Dresses like Percy in Vox Machina Origins. Thigh high boots people…
Take the demon-murdered family-torture trauma from Percy, keep the brains, add a healthy noble upbringing, and tune up the cockiness by ten; ya get Wolfe.
Hear of Hearing! Boy is around heavy machines and gunfire all day. Sounds like he’s yelling most of the time, but his family knows it’s because he cannot hear them.
Learned Sign Language because of his hearing loss.
Has to spray Gwendolyn with water like a cat to keep her out of his Workshop.
Jealous of how free spirited his twin sister can be. He wished he could naturally let go of his worries the way Leona does.
Leona De Rolo
Middle child. Literally. Between Wolfe being two minutes older than her, then followed by Vax’ildan and Gwendolyn– Leona is smack in the middle.
A bi queen
She loves hunting, target practice, etc. Anything to get a bow in her hands.
Thick-ass glasses and she HATES them! They’re so annoying when she’s trying to hunt/fight in the rain or snow. Still has a deadly aim though.
Very competitive. She’s the reason the De Rolo family can’t have a game night.
Fighter/Ranger Multi Class
Good fucking luck trying to tame her lion’s mane of hair. Vesper, Vex, and Gwendolyn have all tried to help her tame it, but it just gets put into a messy ponytail/bun/braid.
Very much a tomboy. Takes to wearing suits and more masc-leaning clothing. Hasn’t worn a dress or skirt since she was like seven years old.
Wolfe has even commented on how she pulls off suits better than he does.
She would never tell him, but that compliment has stuck with her for years.
Often has to push/tackle her twin out of harm's way because he’s hard of hearing.
She and Vex bond over their shared love for the woodlands. There was a time the two of them were camping together, and Vex opened up about her own twin brother. That was the first time Leona had ever seen her mother cry…
She silently vowed to never let something like that happen to Wolfe.
Doesn’t care much for engineering like her father and twin, but she will willingly listen to them ramble on about whatever rabbit hole they’ve both fallen into.
A small, dark part of her is jealous of Wolfe and how he seems to be admired by everyone. Everywhere.
Will kill anyone for looking at any of her siblings in a way she doesn’t like.
She and Vesper travel together the most out of the siblings. Sometimes they’ll go on separate journeys and end up meeting in the middle anyway.
Leona and Gwendolyn love to pull pranks together.
Vax’ildan Frederick De Rolo
Trans.
Trans, and I cannot be convinced otherwise.
He 100% chose the name Vax’ildan.
He’s very quiet. Usually lost in thought or just observing the people around him.
Stares at people.
Really good perception (checks).
Cleric/Paladin Multi Class
Cleric of the Raven Queen… Yeah, Vex was real happy about that…
His family calls him “Danny” or “Freddie”. He understands that “Vax” is reserved for their dearest friend.
Wolfe calls him “Danny Boy”. It’s Vax’ildan’s favorite nickname.
Mama’s boy to the max. Vex, like all parents do, says she doesn’t have a favorite. But everyone knows it’s Vax’ildan II.
Vex was the first one Vax’ildan II came out to as trans. Then Percy, then his siblings, etc.
“Yeah, dude, we already knew.” “...What?”
Just like his uncle; Vax’ildan II had been/is watched by the Raven Queen.
When he accompanied Vesper to her faith work, he would often wander off and be found by the Raven Queen’s Shrine.
Ravens follow this poor kid everywhere. To the point that Leona has offered to shoot them on multiple occasions.
Fell through a frozen lake when he was about ten years old. It scared his family to death, and he was grounded to sleeping in his parents’ bed for like a month (Vex physically would not let him go.)
He tried to explain that he was “-following the guy in the raven cloak who had daggers.”
The reality of the situation didn’t hit him until a few years later, but he still felt no dreaded fear for when it happened.
The only one allowed to come-and-go into Wolfe’s workshop as he pleases. Likes to sit in the back and read his books.
I could write a whole book on this kid.
Gwendolyn De Rolo
Daddy’s girl 100%. It's canon.
The little game that Percy and she play during parties is just training her for trouble.
Rouge Class through-and-through.
Learns how to use a rapier from her Auntie Cassandra
Around the age of fifteen, she starts asking to go by just ‘Gwen’. It’s much less of a mouthful, and something about dropping the lengthy name took a weight off her shoulders.
The age gap between her and the rest of her siblings puts a little bit of a strain on things when it comes to relatability. What would an eleven year old Gwendolyn have in common with a twenty-six year old Vesper?
They all make it work though.
Aside from Vesper; Vax’ildan II is the next sibling that Gwen is closest to. No one else in the family has the same level of spying skills and likes to gossip as much as she does– except for Danny. They talk shit about other people all the time.
Danny and Gwen’s relationship is similar to that of Cassandra and Percy.
I can see her picking up bow skills from both Leona and Vex. Having her as a Rouge/Ranger multi class would be deadly.
Cuts her hair when she’s older and likes to keep in short afterwards
Can rattle off years worth of history of about any city/town/ceremony site she steps into.
Despite her family not seeing her as anything other than their sister/daughter; Gwen feels, in a deep part of her, that they look down on her for being a Tiefling. More so WHY she’s Tiefling.
She and Leona love to pull pranks on the rest of their siblings together.

ways to have improved Frozen because I'm back on this again
Increase the age gap between the sisters. There's so much more room for angst on BOTH sides if, say, Anna was three and Elsa was ten when they were separated. Or more, even! You can automatically make Anna the baby sister Elsa would die for and Elsa the unknown sibling Anna would really like to believe loves her, without any magical memory erasure needed.
Tell the entire thing from Anna's POV!!! Then "Elsa loves her and isn't evil" can satisfy all of your twist/suspense needs without dividing all your energy between "what about Elsa" and "what about Hans" and "what about Kristoff"
Related: nothing against Kristoff as a person but introducing two romantic prospects in a story that's supposed to be about sibling bonds is so cluttered and unnecessary. Replace him with a helpful married couple assisting Anna on her journey and then A) the viewer knows this is about Anna/Hans and Anna & Elsa in some form WITHOUT the red flag of "clearly Hans isn't endgame" and B) Anna gets to hang out with a healthy relationship model. You could do something constructive about Healthy Romance. You could make them surrogate parents.
Changes 2 and 3 combine really well to making this Anna's movie with Elsa as the Surprise Co-Heroine which. It would have been so much cleaner. So much easier to build a focused narrative.
I have said it before and I'll say it again: This could have just been the Snow Queen.

Hi fellow Frozen fans! I’m here to talk about an opinion from the Frozen fandom that has been bothering me since Frozen 2 came out. I’ve heard several people claim that Elsa was selfish for abdicating the throne to Anna to become the Fifth Spirit. Some people even seem to imply that Elsa doing so is ruining Anna and Kristoff’s lives and their plans for the future. I don’t know where all of this is coming from, but based on varying complaints from the fandom, I have a few ideas.
I think, that some people are just upset because they would rather Elsa remain the prim and proper Queen of Arendelle and Anna, the carefree, bubbly princess. The people who sport this idea annoy, and even anger me to some extent. Anna and Elsa are so, so much more than that. Do you all just want them to remain frozen in time? You have no desire for them to grow as people? If you truly love and appreciate the sisters as characters, then you would WANT them to grow, and reach their full potential.
Why shouldn’t Anna get a chance to lead her people? Why shouldn’t Elsa, a woman who was locked away in her room for thirteen years, get a chance to experience true, complete freedom? Why should she be denied the chance to be happy? To live a happy and fulfilling life?
Is it because she’s the first born and you feel she needs to live out the rest of her days fulfilling that obligation? There were undoubtably plenty of first born Kings and Queens who assumed the throne yet had do desire for such a burden. Nobody should have to be resigned to such a fate. Especially such a unique person like Elsa.
Another reason that I have heard mentioned, is that some people prefer the “Two Queens“ ending. For the people who believe that Elsa and Anna should have ended up ruling Arendelle together, as equals, let me start by saying that that’s not how monarchies work. A monarch usually refers to a single person. A person of royal blood and related to the Royal family.
Yes, a monarch usually does wed another person, but the person who marries an heir apparent only shares their rank and title. They do not have any sovereign powers over the kingdom. They do not rule. Any political power they have is limited to what the monarch allows them to have.
So, the “Two Queens” idea would not work not only because the power of the monarch can only belong to one person, but Anna is Elsa’s sister. Yes, there WAS insest in real life monarchies, but as two females, an heir would never be able to be produced. This was the main reason why monarchs were, often forced, to marry. To produce an heir. The only reason Anna was able to ascend was because Elsa abdicated without a child of her own. They could never have ruled Arendelle together.
I know that part of the reason that this idea appealed to people is because it fit in with the “two sisters“ theme of Frozen. Many people believe that Elsa leaving Arendelle goes against that theme. Or that Elsa leaving Arendelle won’t strengthen their bond. I understand where people are coming from, but again, I disagree.
Elsa is 24 years old. She’s an adult. She’s around my age, and I have many friends who have moved out of their homes. That doesn’t mean that the bonds they have with their parents and siblings deteriorate or that they don’t love them anymore. It just mean that they’re independent. Same with Elsa. It’s only natural that the older sister is the first to move out of the house. She’ll always lover her family and can visit them at any time she likes.
As I mentioned above, Elsa is not ruining Anna and Kristoff’s marriage and lives in the future. She isn’t shoving off uneeded responsibility onto Anna. While Anna may not have been groomed to be Queen growing up the same way that Elsa was, she probably was made aware that as the second born daughter of the King and Queen, that if anything happened to Elsa, Arendelle would look to her. It’s not like Anna is coming into this with zero understanding of what’s expected of her.
I don’t know how many of you read any of the artick of interviews with Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck when Frozen 2 came out, but I did. They stated that the entire point of the movie was for “Anna to become Queen and Elsa to be free.” So the outcome that you’re complaining about was always the intention. Sorry.
Chris and Jen said that Anna should become Queen because of her deep love for her people and that Elsa doesn’t deserve to be trapped in a box. I couldn’t agree more. Anna loves her people and wants to help and do things for them. That’s what being a Queen is all about. That’s why Anna would want and do well in the position. She would be helping her people.
Elsa is a unique person with a unique gift. Even though her powers had been accepted by the people of Arendelle and she was a beloved Queen, she was still somewhat restrained for the sake of fitting in. Elsa could have never embraced her powers and all that she is if she had remained in Arendelle as its Queen.
Elsa abdicated the throne because she had a higher calling. As guardian of the Enchanted Forest, a place where the magic of nature is respected, Elsa can be herself and use her powers to the fullest extent to protect the forest and all its inhabitants.
In conclusion, By abdicating the throne to become the fifth spirit and leaving Anna to become Queen, both Elsa and Anna get the chance to grow into their best selves. This is about what is best for both of them and their happiness. Not about your fantasy preference for their future.

Not trying to start anything, but I did wanna get this off my chest about Disney's biggest sequels
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/139c5b83fa6624840a4ab2efdf2c2fe4/cb9c1a524e53f14b-d6/s540x810/9df4de5daacac94402bfeccad0c074f66db1fe1c.webp)
It's worth noting that in my opinion (and in the opinion of many others), both "Frozen 2" and "Moana 2" were extremely flawed films, for reasons most people know about. That said, there were bright points with the films, where one was perhaps stronger than the other. I'd like to discuss how both of them stacked up.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f529e5305c348d2bca75d8def2ef4735/cb9c1a524e53f14b-c1/s400x600/333a6e83437d10cb0d9562c1b8ae1c67af07f082.jpg)

The music--This is a low blow, but regardless, "Frozen 2" wins this, easily. This isn't to say the music for "Moana 2" is bad (nowhere near as bad as "Wish"), but it doesn't have the same spark. "Frozen 2" had the benefit of having the same team of directors, writers, and songwriters as the first film, while "Moana 2" didn't (well, the screenwriter returned, but he became co-screenwriter) due to the fact that it was originally planned to be a show before Bob Iger made the decision to upgrade it to a full-length feature film. While not a bad idea, this was done at the last minute, and while "Frozen 2" had their own production issues, it was of a different kind, and the team was better-equiped. The team for "Moana 2"--including the songwriters--didn't have the time necessary to restructure the film to better fit an epic sequel, which led to (among other things) average music.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/320faff0f9edbdf199cafde4b602ce58/cb9c1a524e53f14b-43/s540x810/53b3f7659c239060bd5a8c98e248115c0dfa524c.webp)

The Animation--This may be an unpopular opinion, but I find the animation for "Frozen 2" to be superior. Between the originals, "Moana" wins thanks to the colorful aesthetic. Both sequels lean towards a darker or paler color scheme, though for "Frozen 2" it's perhaps as a reference to fall, while "Moana 2" was moreso situational. That said, I felt like there were moments in "Moana 2" that felt a bit overrun with purples and greens (though the green is mainly when Moana and co. are trapped), and to my SHOCK, I actually thought the color use would've been better suited for a 2D film, in contrast to the first film, which I felt like was a love letter to 3D. (No shade to either animation style; I love both equally). The darkness in both films seems to befit the darker tones both are going for, but I think it works in favor of "Frozen 2" more than "Moana 2."
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8c75c3314214a14e053b38214670524b/cb9c1a524e53f14b-2c/s540x810/541792affd530faadda93be32d4aff8e10c00248.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/737631b85f7178f5f662c45862cc7b58/cb9c1a524e53f14b-c7/s540x810/ab03d319583c9435a4506440336ec68d9ef0a221.jpg)
The new characters--This is where they're equal: they're all plot devices. In "Frozen 2," the Northuldra Tribe's plight serve as the backbone for the conflict of the story, and their knowledge of the spirits of the land serve as motivation for the potential solution. However, they aren't really characters unto themselves. Despite Yelena being the leader, Honeymaron being the one to talk to Elsa, and Ryder bonding with Kristoff over reindeers (it's sad to me that they had more chemistry than Kristoff and Anna this movie), none of the characters are involved as...well, characters. Their sole existance is to point the cast--mainly Elsa--in the direction of their quest, rather than joining them on their quest. And Arendelle's Royal Guard adds nothing, literally nothing, to the story, so their inclusion isn't really necessary.
With "Moana 2," it's more or less the same. Moana provides logical reasons for her crew: Kele is a farmer and can provide the team with food while on their venture, Loto is a craftsman and can help keep the ship in shape, and Moni is big and strong. However, none of them are particularly characterized beyond their one trope of being grumpy, smart, or excited, so it's kind of a waste of good ideas. None of them have their own motivations or fleshed-out perspectives despite joining Moana on her quest, and it still feels like a Moana and Maui adventure. Giving Moana a sister felt like a waste since they don't bond, and Moana's risks and motivations would've been the same if she was an only child, since she'd still worry about her parents and village. Matangi is set up to appear as a villain, but turns out to be a prisoner who helps Moana, albeit not in a way that was as deep as it could've been with her whole "there's always another way to do things" perspective. And Nalo lacks Te Fiti's purpose, instead just being a random angry storm god who lacks any particular personality, metaphor, or interesting characteristics besides being a storm for most of the film.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f043aba16191035230cf6eafea0bcbe2/cb9c1a524e53f14b-35/s540x810/3ae679deebbbb15bd5586db46c8f846f51680e03.webp)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/72483603d7446a7c14fd80e0adb98308/cb9c1a524e53f14b-5d/s540x810/a5f09a1752d02d3942e30aad7fda2f5181df5540.jpg)
The Story--Weirdly enough, "Moana 2" wins this. While "Frozen 2" has a better journey, "Moana 2" has a more clear end goal; there's no confusing mystery or plot expansion we have to work on. Moana has to unite the islands, and Elsa has to find out the identity of the voice who's calling her. The "who" and "what" is a lot clearer than "Moana 2," especially since it ties into the first film.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/262142dfdeabc45c64e22326382cb52c/cb9c1a524e53f14b-7e/s540x810/b6d84242416d39dd9f842fa4f6f07f4ca58ec0d7.jpg)

The Darkness and communicating the messages--Definitely "Frozen 2." While Elsa's self-discovery may have been a bit familiar, Anna's was new territory, exploring what life means for her when she's become codependent on the only family member she has left, and they die. She manages to overcome it in a beautiful song, though she isn't uplifted, just determined. "Moana 2" fails to do this. The message is pretty similar to the cultural identity motif of the first film, though nothing in the film really capitalizes on the idea of losing your identity or turning your back on your culture. As for the darkness, Moni almost dies, and it's a pretty depressing moment, but Maui sings a pep talk song, and suddenly everyone's ready to roll. There isn't really a processing of stress or failure in this moment, and the song isn't even a growing song like "I am Moana" where it starts off sad but grows to be empowering.
Overall, I think both films needed more work (though Disney's whims have played a part in that), but "Frozen 2" had a better foundation and execution, in contrast to "Moana 2, which just felt simple and average.

"Anna had better chemistry with Hans than with Kristoff"
Wow, it's almost like Hans literally manipulated Anna and played along with whatever she said and did to create the illusion of "love at first sight soulmates" to keep her in the dark of his real intentions.
While Kristoff is the real guy she actually got to know and bond with on a more realistic and less romance novel level. So, of course it's not all "butterflies and rainbows" all the time where Kristoff just blindly agrees and goes along with Anna on everything. He's his own person first and Anna's love interest second.
I'm sorry, but people who claim what Anna and Hans had was "chemistry" scare me. Like, thinking that during your first watch is one thing, because Hans fooling us is the entire point, but when you know the twist and still think that, it's just... yikes.

I've seen a lot of complaints lately about the lack of romance in recent Disney movies. Do you think Disney's next princess movie should give the heroine a love interest? (not counting Moana 2 because I seriously doubt they'll give Moana a LI in the sequel)
I think it would be nice to see Disney bring back romance.
They've certainly made enough romance-free movies to drive home the point that girls don't need romantic love to be complete. And for many of us, the love stories are some of the best parts of Disney's animated movies of yesteryear.
That said, if they do give the next Princess a love interest, I hope they don't fall back into the same formula of "bickering to friends to lovers" that they kept repeating for a while. Tiana and Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn, Anna and Kristoff, Judy and Nick if you ship them... while each of those pairings do have unique qualities and appeal, it's still a little bit formulaic. Disney almost seemed to have forgotten that a romance arc doesn't need to be either "bickering to friends to lovers" or old-school Love at First Sight.
As far as I'm concerned, the Disney Renaissance was the golden age of Disney love stories, because each couple had a unique relationship arc and dynamic. Ariel and Eric's gentle, fun-loving teenage romance – closer than the others to old-school Love at First Sight, but handled in a fresh, modern-feeling way. Belle and the Beast's blend of a rom com-style "bickering to friends to lovers" arc with sweeping Gothic Romanticism, which somehow works beautifully despite the difference between those two genres. Aladdin and Jasmine's bonding of kindred spirits and shared longings, and the conflict caused by their class gap and Aladdin's self-doubt. Simba and Nala's bantering childhood friendship that grows into adult love. Pocahontas and John Smith's Romeo and Juliet-style forbidden passion. Quasimodo, Esmeralda and Phoebus's love triangle that ends in happy romance for the latter two and warm friendship that both share with Quasi. Hercules and Meg's arc of "innocent, kind-hearted boy teaches hardened, cynical girl to love again," combined with Meg's redemption arc as she breaks free from Hades. Mulan and Shang's comradeship-in-arms that ends with a hint at future romance. Tarzan and Jane's bonding through exploring each other's worlds and then each having to choose between their own world and the other's.
Each of these love stories is unique and special in its own way. I hope that when Disney finally decides to do romance again, they'll break away from all earlier formulas and make it just as fresh and unique as those past examples.

Hi! I love your OCs and AU so much (especially swap au cuz I’m weak for cinnamon roll x cinnamon roll)! So I have quite a few questions if you don’t mind
1.About Swap au LionRoot, did they enter love phase before or after Eve leave Adam?
2. If they were like Anna x Kristoff pre-fall, what is their dynamic after the fall since you seem to imply that Fallen Michael has changed a lot from his old self (based on how main au Michael agrees with Charlie’s plan of redemption but the fallen one straight up think it’s impossible and how does this affect his relationship with Emily?)
3. What is Michael’s relationship with his siblings after he fell? Do any of them blame Eve/Roo for being the reason that their big brother “betrayed” them?
4. Back to the main au, what do you think Constantine’s dynamic with Charlie would be if he were like, a whole lot older than her? Cuz I… embarrassingly mistook him for being at least centuries if not thousands years older than Charlie when I first saw him LOL. Would he act more like her father since she and Lucifer were estranged so he probably felt the need to step up?
I am so glad you like my OC and my AUs! And of course you can Ask!
1-Michael and Eve entered the love phase when Eve left Adam.
2-They weren't the same before, the fall changed them naturally, Michael was betrayed by the ideals he trusted the most and devoted himself to the end, and he lost his faith in heaven. Eve became known as the mother of all evil for something she did just because she wanted freedom, and I'm still writing here so I won't go into detail, but Eve's fall caused the death of something she cared about so much that a great hatred grew inside her.
3- Despite all this, they still love each other because for millennia they trusted each other the most. They may be cruel to the other people in hell, but they are always respectful and loving to each other and they try to make each other happy no matter how damned they are in that dark prison.
4-You might think that they blame Eve because she was the one who untied Roo in the seal, but Eve did it to protect someone she cared about and not for her own selfish needs, so Michael's siblings blame themselves for what happened to their brother and no one else, but they hate Roo to the fullest.
5-LOL I can understand you very well Charlie looks in her 20's and Constantine looks in his late 30's (this guy needs proper sleep and diet)
They probably wouldn't have been as close as they are now if there was a big age difference between them. Charlie was born when Constantine was a child, so he grew up with his little sister and was always by her side, and this created a really close sibling bond and friendship between them. If Constantine had been an adult when Charlie was born, he wouldn't have spent so much time with her and they wouldn't have had such a close relationship.

Yep Frozen; the 2013 film’s anniversary is here! And before you ask; YES I KNOW IM EXTREMELY LATE ON THIS ANNIVERSARY as it was supposed to be on November 27th 2023 and were in 2024 today, but I still follow the motto of “late is better than never” so I decided to combine both the 10th anniversary from last year and the 11th anniversary currently coming up this year. Following the story of two estranged sisters named Elsa and Anna, the former of which has cryokinesis, going on their paths together with a iceman named Kristoff, his reindeer companion Sven and a animated snowman named Olaf to bring their country out of accidental eternal winter and to reconnect the lost bonds. This movie was a instant hit, success and phenomenon with beautiful songs, incredible cinematography in terms of animation, music, voices and storytelling and with its iconic cast of characters! Happy 10th Anniversary from 2023 and Happy 11th Anniversary in this year Frozen!
